TMC: Who is Devyn Rose?
DR: Devyn Rose is a unique multi genre singer, songwriter from New York baby!
TMC: What was it about music that made you want to pursue it as a career?
DR: I always loved to entertain and I always loved to sing since I was a little girl. I knew my love and passion for music - I knew in my heart that this is what I wanted to do and I never gave up regardless of any obstacles.
TMC: Who can you say you look up to when it comes to music?
DR: Artist like Bone Thugs n Harmony, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, Deniece Williams, among others have inspired me musically. Present day artist…I want to be like Beyonce when I grow up ;D
TMC: What is your favorite thing about being an artist?
DR: My most favorite aspect of being an artist is being true to myself and being able to relate and connect with my fans, performing, and making an everlasting impression on people. The feeling is A.mazing!
DR: I am currently in the studio working on material for the last installment of my 3 part EP project called: I AM DEVYN ROSE, a documentary, and a full length LP!
TMC: What has been your most significant achievement for you since in this industry?
DR: Honestly, I am never satisfied…I am always evolving and nothing is really every a huge achievement or a big deal to me no matter where I am in my career. I always want more…like I see that great things happened or are happening, things I dreamed of and I am like and, so what? What’s next, what can I do to top that? But since you guys asked lol, my latest “achievement” would be my EP D.E.V.Y.N - it exceeded 100k downloads and the outpour of support behind it has been killer! Shouts to Frostwire, Urban Music Daily, and everyone who posted it!
TMC: There are many female artists on the come up, What sets you apart from other artists? What makes Devyn Rose unique?
DR: My sound sets me apart, my ability to craft songs and articulate them in a way that music fans can identify with - I am very diverse as an artist. When it comes to my music, you never know what to expect – I do various genres of music – an eccentric mix of alternative, pop, r&b, hiphop, etc…basically whatever inspires me. I am creative, I am an artist! I refuse to be put in a box where it’s like ok, you are an African American girl so you are automatically r&b…nope, sorry dude! I have different emotions, different feelings, different flows, whether I go about it speaking in English or French or Creole, singing or rapping, loud or soft, rugged or raw, rocker vibe or smooth, I just do it! Every record I do sounds different, almost like an alter ego but still reminiscent of Devyn Rose or a Devyn Rose record. I play instruments like the piano or guitar and I dance Jazz. I am an all around artist and songwriter.
TMC: Tell us something people may not know about Devyn Rose.
DR: I am a vegan – I don’t eat anything or anything from anything that blinks, my mom is French, Dad is Haitian …ce qui est bon! (What’s good!)
TMC: What's in the near future for you?
DR: Super Stardom! Internationally known on the microphone! Eeh.yeh! Shouts to the A Team!
