Artist Dave Skillz (David Boyd) was born in Atlanta Georgia on June 22,
1987. He began writing music at the age of 13 when he met a group of
artist who were doing their own music. While perfecting his craft and
becoming better he later needed original beats opposed to recording
over just industry instrumentals. Producers were pricing beats that weren't in his budget, so around the age of 16 or 17 he started making his own beats. Spending money out of his own pocket to get studio time; Skillz was also working two jobs trying to save enough money for decent studio equipment. He then joined the U.S Navy and while serving he saved enough money to buy and build his own home studio. Skillz learned how to mix and audio engineer vocals from being in studios and
watching youtube tutorials. Skillz began recording himself with a professional sound quality. Skillz has released several albums/mix-tapes and continuing to be the best he can and a known statement in the music industry today.
TMC: For those who unfamiliar, tell the people who Dave Skillz is?DS: Im your total package. Im your commercial artist that can takeover the radio and im your freestyle lyrical artist. I guess i kinda developed this way being born in Atlanta but paying attention to alot of northern rappers at an early age.
TMC: What was is about music that made you want to pursue it?DS: Well since i was 14 i been doing music. No matter where i was new music to record was always coming to my head. I jus had to lay it down. So around 18 i became more serious and told myself "the world needs to hear me" and since then I have been doing what is takes to make that happen.
TMC: Who are some people who have influenced you when it comes to music?DS: A few people off top would be Dr. Dre, Kanye West, T.I, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross; and im not always influenced by their music but empire they built and the roads they took to the top. I just want to make that same thing happen for my team.

TMC: What is your favorite thing about being an artist?
DS: I would say being able to express yourself and make your audience feel the way you do from your songs. We have freedom of speech, and i believe words is a persons strongest tool.
TMC: Tell us somethings you're currently working on.
DS: Currently working on a new mixtape "New Era Amerika" from our label Infamous Sound. The mixtape will have a placement my new single "Dats How I Do It" which features ISML artist Kidd Recordah, and SNG artist Bezi. Im also doing feature tracks for Kidd Recordah's new mixtape "Courtesy of the Kidd". Also wrappin up my next mixtape "Metaphoriically Speaking 2", date is TBD.
TMC: Biggest Achievement since doing music?
DS: Getting my music on itunes and shooting videos to my songs, because those avenues alone increased my fan base.
TMC: What makes you stand out from all the other artists on the come up?
DS: By not being predictable on your lyrical content and not making cliche mixtape names. I keep the people wondering on what words im gonna use to rhyme with next. People begin to recognize you on the little differences.
TMC: What's something people may not know about Dave Skillz?
DS: I engineer all my tracks, and Im taking a learning up on audio engineering to become certified.
