"For CEO and designer Tyniece Hall is passionate about her craft. "I create my “Own” style, When I first started experimenting with styling I would hear comments like "what does she have on" or "why is she wearing that!" Originally from the inner city of Milwaukee, WI her family didn't have much money to buy the latest styles so, making due with what she had helped her create  unique fashion looks.

In 2004 she worked as a assistant and stylist for a local designer, at that moment she knew that was where she belonged. In 2007 while working in a friend’s boutique in Oakland, California she had the opportunity to style women and learned how to dress an array of different personalities and styles. A year later, Swagger Boutique for Handbags, Accessories and Footwear was established. 2011 was Swagger's break out year, "I discovered my niche for designing handbags, footwear and jewelry. I design for women who desire a custom, unique, edgy, fashionable look and I make sure quality materials and  merchandise is available conveniently online to women at a low cost."
- Biography

MP: When did you know that the 'passion for fashion' was more than a hobby?
TH: I was passionate for fashion at a very young age, maybe around the age of 7, I used to create looks for my Barbie dolls and I also loved watch my Mother and my Aunt get ready to go partying, there was a lot of sequins, heels and jewelry, I loved how they the sparkled! When I reached my teens I would sneak into their closets while they were gone and try on "my" favorite items. I started sketching designs in my early 20's but I found my niche for designing jewelry, handbags, and footwear 3 years ago.

MP: What separates you from your competitors?
TH: I am very eclectic and am not afraid to think and step out of the box. I design according to my mood and I try to stay away from trends. I like to set my own.

MP: What is your favorite part of owning and operating your own business?
TH: For one, being my own Boss, Lol! But I love having the freedom to express myself through my craft.

MP: Have you worked with any prestigious names so far? If so, who?
TH: Well...so far I have been blessed to place Swagger Accessories on Lisa Raye, Vanessa Simmons, Tamyra Gray and the legendary Debbie Allen!!

MP: Anything new/exciting coming in 2013 that The MC Magazine can get an exclusive sneak about?
TH: Well yes! I am always working on new projects but this year I am going to take the Swagger brand "Green". I will provide a service to women by re-purposing their footwear, handbags and jackets that they have in their own closet. I am also starting a men's accessory line.

"Swagger Boutique provides you with custom, unique, edgy, stylish and classy handbags, accessories and footwear that can be worn on the runway to everyday. Swagger strives to create unique pieces that all can wear for any occasion." - Biography

Thank you so much Miss Tyniece, it was a pleasure getting to know you and your brand! Much success to you and happy new year!

Exclusive Interview:
MP: How old were you when you first picked up the “C” (Camera)?
KB: Being that I was born at a time where technology was still working itself out, I would pick up a disposable camera at my local grocery store and take pictures that way. I was just a kid, probably Pre-K age.

MP: Do you feel that it is an advantage or disadvantage being a female in your line of work?
KB: Oh my gosh! I have never been so proud to be a young woman in my life. When these young girls reach my age and find the purpose, they’ll understand. I don’t know what it’s like being a MAN, but my gender is working out for me and the field I am in haha!

MP: We watched your promotional video on youtube.com/KelliBTV, how long did that process take you from start to finish?
KB: Oh thank you for watching! I got and urge to get something done real quick and so that morning, I did my own hair and make-up, threw on my own clothes and actually, my boyfriend helped me film it and we did it at my house. It took about 4 hours to do EVERYTHING! Meaning editing as well. Super easy! I have more videos coming very soon so stay tuned for that!

MP: What are some career goals of yours?
KB: I would like to work with people I looked up to in my teenage years, get better at my craft and keep going hard in each new line of work I get into in the future.

MP: Are you open for business? How can serious inquiries reach you?
KB: The OPEN sign is on! They can visit WWW.KELLIBPHOTO.COM and all of my contact info is on the site. My portfolio, more info about myself as well as videos too!

MP: What is your plan for the new year with Kelli B. Photo?
KB:  I'll be getting some new equipment, which means trying different techniques. As well as getting myself in front of the camera more often. To be a photographer, you'd think I'd have plenty of photos of myself but, nah haha!

MP: What projects do you have coming up between now and 2013? What about after 2013?
KB: Right now, I'm getting ready to leave for Hawaii, Haiti, Mexico and Jamaica once again with ESPN and I'm really excited about that. After that is said and done, I'd like to knock out some personal projects I've been working on.

8&9 Clothing.

Miami Based Street Lifestyle Company

TMC: So when and what made you start your own clothing line?
8&9: Started in 2001, 8&9 was built to bridge urban and skate markets.

TMC: What’s the concept behind your designs?
8&9: Most of our designs have layered concepts where you can appreciate what you see on the surface or dig deeper and find greater meaning.

TMC: What are your influences or inspiration behind your designs?
8&9: We design from a diverse perspective but we’re ultimately a street lifestyle brand. Inspired by the streets, hip hop, skating, politics and pop culture.

TMC: What do you feel separates your Clothing from the rest?
8&9: Business wise it’s hard work and sacrifice. Creatively it’s our design direction. That depth of concept a lot of brands are lacking these days. We also pride ourselves on the color palettes we use season to season.

TMC: Give us a few fashion tips that you can take into consideration when designing?
8&9: We always focus on the message at hand. What will a particular piece say about the person who buys it. All of our designs have a specific strategy and target.

TMC: What's one major “fashion NO-NO” to you?
8&9: I’m not a fan of “dressing off the mannequin.”  We try to create pieces that each person may wear differently. It’s important our customers can be themselves and wear our products with anything from New Balances to J’s.  So many brands just slap a shoe on the shirt and sell it to match the sneaker.  That’s a fashion no-no.

TMC: What have you learned being an up and coming designer, Good & Bad?
8&9: I’ve learned consistency is king.  Building a brand is much different than “making t shirts.”   It takes a long time to solidify your brand. This is what we set out to do.

TMC: What plans do you have in the near future for your line?
8&9: The future of 8&9 is increased distribution, more accessories and lifestyle products. Essentially, the same thing our customers know us for but on a larger scale.
