Ron Dash music is new fresh different old new rap pop indie dance boom. Every track has a supermodel hanging from its arm while boarding private helicopters transporting the party from rooftop to rooftop. Ron Dash’s tunes inspire celebration, good energy jams you can put on at any time of the day and get lost in. When Ron isn’t in the studio mixing jams, he is photographing awesome people and things. He first started recording with Danny Newport and Kapano at 5th quarter productions in 2011. I think music and art are at very transitional point right now with so many people having access to so much and i think its a beautiful thing. So i am just riding the waves like everyone else.

RD: my favorite thing would have to be the level of freedom that i have to be able to create and show the world what i see and getting the feedback back whether it be negative or positive. A lot of people don't have that opportunity and have to live vicariously through others works and words.

TMC: Introduce yourself. FJ: I'm FLy Jay (yes the 'FL' are capitalized). I'm primarily a Hip Hop/Rap artist and producer, but I also delve into more mellow, instrumental, Electro-influenced music like Deep House, Dub, and a style that I just call Electronic Funk.I'm more of an intellectual street-poet on the mic. I don't really kick "conscious-rap" per say, but it's thinking-people's music for the most part. I don't think about anything in life in the ways that most people do and it reflects in my lyrics and style of sound. I challenge a LOT of conventional wisdom (if you can call it that) in my lyrics. But overall, and bottom-line, if you listen closely it's something that anyone can relate to - IF you're honest with yourself.
I'm highly highly lyrical, not so much punch-line type, but definitely lyrical as far as syllable structure and cleverness with the rhymes and lines, and the type of things I say...ok can I stop extolling my own virtues now? hahah.
TMC: What made you pursue music? FJ: I don't know what made me start. I played saxophone as a young kid, and hung out with my older cousin in the studio he had when I was a teenager. But I'm heavily inspired to do music by the visual arts, women, and just anything aesthetic.
TMC: What sets you apart from other artists? FJ: I'd say, my ways of thinking and approaching music. I don't look at my efforts and feel as though I HAVE to incorporate what's popular in order to feel relevant. I don't follow trends. I also don't rely on anyone for anything. Right now, I don't even have a manager, I don't have friends helping me push my music or anything like that. It's just me 100% in the lab, spending the dough, contacting industry people, DJs, clubs and what not.
As far as sonically, I'm more laid back in my style. I don't come out as an "in your face" type just attacking and barraging you with lyrics and lines. I don't "spit", I "flow". My sound is more mature than most rappers. I don't make you bounce and "get wild", I make you chillax.
Also, I switch in and out of genres and styles at will and with great ease. It's not like I can ONLY rap, or do ONLY Rap/HipHop, and when I do cross genres into some more eclectic style of music, it sounds and feels natural - not something weird or forced.
TMC: What's something people may not know about you?
FJ: I think that I've recorded under different names. I've only been FLy Jay for a few years, but I have about 10 years in this music and I've been other artists. There's other things, but I guess that would be personal and I'm not too fond of my personal life being public.
TMC: What projects do you have planned for the near future?
FJ: I have 3 Hip Hop/Rap records planned for 2013. After that, I'm hoping to just do a lot of touring and a great deal of producing for other artists.
TMC: What do you feel about the future of music?FJ: "As far as Hip Hop, I think it's in trouble. If you look closely, the biggest name artists are the least lyrically skilled, but they have the BEST beats. Furthermore, I feel as though the real thoughtfulness in lyrical content is dwindling like never before. The ignorance or just stupidity is at a staggering height. Rap is pretty much a big commercial right now. If you look at Rap videos, all you see is material, and just highly non-substantial content. I'm pretty sure that's by design, because Rap is very very powerful, and can be a vehicle for change in a lot of thought, but it's been hijacked and is now used to sell just about anything, in addition to the lifestyle and mind-set of hyper consumerism.
Also, it's so closed-circle and political it's virtually impossible for anyone outside of any powerful network to emerge fully. It's insecure because a clique or power base will do all in their efforts to shun you or keep you from coming up if they feel it threatens or steals their shine or that of their artists that they're trying to promote. It's set up now that you can only buy your way into the game, even without talent. You see it manifest in the DJ releases, the video shows, the radio programs, the blog sites or online magazines, etc..you can't get in unless you pay...and if they only accept folks who pay, the dollar becomes the bottom line as opposed to the talent. So if someone is a pay-for-play outlet or DJ or radio show, etc, then what will stop them from playing or showcasing someone who is wack, but paying

TMC: When you're in the booth laying down your lyrics, who are some of the people who've inspired you lyrically and musically?
H2: My musical influences are Jay Z, Nas, Biggie, AZ, and Fabolous. However, lyrically my 2 sons inspire me to write. They give me the motivation to succeed and provide a better way of life for them.

H2: I believe what makes me unique is that I am a triple threat...rapping, modeling and acting. I've been blessed with the talent and gift to do all three. What sets me apart from many artists is I still believe in the art of music. My approach is to make timeless music that transcends the current fad and crosses cultural barriers. I work hard to make good music for everybody, not just one group of people.

H2: I came up with the title Rap Heals All Wounds because it's something that's reality for me. I grew up with a lot of adversity, my family and struggle was hard. Felt like I was at war...rapping and music is therapeutic for me. It has allowed me to release a lot of pain and hurt from my upbringing and channel it into a more positive way rather than the negative street life. Lonely, one of the tracks on the upcoming mixtape, talks about my family...growing up with no father and a mother struggling to raise 7 children on her own. It was hard, we didn't have the things a lot of kids in my neighborhood had. But although I grew up in a large household, I still was a lonely child, feeling like I really had no one. I lost a lot of friends to the street life and got caught up in things I should not have. This song takes you through the different stages of my life growing up as a kid and then how I felt when my moms died...it tore my family apart. This saga continues....stay tuned!
TMC: What's something people would be surprised to discover about you?
H2: I had dreams of becoming a professional basketball player. I was good at bball too. My goal was to go to college and eventually make it in the NBA, but the streets, the hustle got me first.
TMC: Trying to come up as a new artist can be full of ups and downs. What keeps you motivated as an artist?
H2: My family keeps my motivated. When I see where I grew up and how people in my old neighborhood are still doing the same thing, seeing some of the same people still on the corner or locked up, fuels me to grind harder. I love music and I'm committed to being the best artist I can be, putting out quality music no matter what, telling my story. Being a mentor and positive influence on people who have had the same struggle I have motivates me.

As word began to spread, the buzz about Shortie Mac was undeniable. This enabled him to network with many of the well established artists and producers from Chicago, including Earl Powell and Grammy Award winning producer Maurice Joshua, also known as “The Remix King.” These industry powerhouses have worked with such artists as Jennifer Hudson and Beyoncé Knowles.

CDG: im currently working on pushing the one man army mixtape its 15 tracks very solid very versatile and I feel it’s something to be proud of. my fans should def be expecting more videos I’m just getting everything right no fraud no gimmicks everything u see in these videos are all me no loaners no rental just me I want people to see the transformation and the changes of me entering the game so expect the unexpected
TMC: Biggest Achievement & Biggest Challenge since in the industry?
CDG: right now I would say the artist to know show because I went halfway around the country to do a show at that with one of the most poppin new artists in the game I got to network with all kinds of people including hit maker jazzy pha and all types of companies as far as challenges I would just have to say the shadiness that comes with it. in this game a lot of the love is fabricated alotta people with show you love until you starting do better than them it’s just not a sport for the weak minded u gotta have heart to survive

CDG: don’t be anybody else but you!

Many female artists struggle to establish their musical identity and are scared to have that ALL IN YOUR FACE attitude but still remain humble and respectful. Some female hip-hop artists refer to completely changing their image to obtain success. Suni MF Solomon fits in neither of those categories while her sound is something rap/hip-hop is missing! Parole Liquide says: “Rap and soul together create something original and not obvious, and the flow of Suni is remarkable!” making music to live to, laugh to, smoke to, reminisce to, and party to. Her new mixtape, “5th Tape Outchea”, which is set to drop mid June, Suni is definitely letting her ATLien come out in her own unique original way but still having some songs for EVERYBODY! Currently pushing “Incomplete Thoughts” she is still shooting visual for this mixtape.
A happy jumping 11 pound baby girl was born June 13, 1991 in Brockton, Massachusetts at home with a midwife. Quickly moving down south after birth Suni grew up on the Westside of Atlanta, Ga. Suni began showing interest in music at a young age, rapping in the mirror at 7 and playing the violin in middle school, but she didn’t get serious about music until her teenage years. She explains, “I was always involved in music through schools, I was chorus in elementary school but I always wanted to play an instrument, I got lucky in 7th grade when my school offered orchestra and provided the instruments.” Although being a rebel got her kicked out of her original high school, Suni changing schools was great for her music venture, her teenage years was when she found herself as an artist, “Before I got kicked out of Douglass I met my producer BobxWeave, but I was still timid about my music or even mentioning the fact that I did music to other people. Me changing schools was the best thing that happened to me I gained a new found confidence and developed & name and a buzz” High school was where Suni began calling going under “Suni MF Solomon” as her rap name, “High school was great because I developed my name, just began going to the studio and putting music out and that quickly got me a buzz amongst my peers.” Linking up with North Atlanta high school’s rap entourage SBi (Curtis Williams x FLYTASTiK x Key Dolo x Wade B), Suni began a great musical relationship with FLYTASTiK and ever since 2009 they have been making music together. “I met Fly when I went to North Atlanta, he has such a mature, cocky, but fly demeanor our personalities just clicked and our ideas were always dope when it came to music.” Shortly after linking with SBi Suni dropped her mixtape “Back to the Basics”, “I dropped my first mixtape and the whole school went crazy I felt good walking in the hallways.” “Greedmont Park a big blog in Atlanta got ahold of my tape & reviewed it before I even knew anything about submissions so that was a great feeling!”
Throughout the time of releasing her first mixtape “Back to the Basics” in 2009, Suni has released 3 more projects: “Suni With a Chance” in 2010, “MFmix” 2011, and “Incomplete Thoughts” in 2011. Suni’s name grew through and out the city of Atlanta while collaborating with artist such as: Purple Monkey Sircus, JaMEEL, De-Capo Music Group, The Born Genius, Kemelia Da’Vinci, FLYTASTiK, and many more. The pieces slowly began falling into place with her music career. From winning open mics at GSU and open mics most venues provide. Performing at legendary venues such as Apache Café. Teaming up with local artist and her longtime producer forming a team that goes by “CMFTBLVN” (Comfortable Livin’). In which they sponsored their own college tour, The Feet Up College Tour, touring UGA, HU, and ending in DC to perform at legendary venue Twins Jazz in DC. “Working with my team and being able to list my accomplishments throughout my dream chasing I feel very confident that God has a lot stored for me in the future, with a great following and fan base I will continue to drop new music to keep myself relevant and successful,” says Suni.
With the attention that “Incomplete Thoughts” caught from new fans and blogs Suni says she’s ready to give her fans new music and to expect new sounds, “On my new tape I want to touch some topics that no one has ever touched. I like to think outside the box and not sound like your typical song.
