MS: Miles Stone is more than just your average artist, he's a musician. Miles Stone is who I am as a person as well, aiming to be significant, which is timeless. The music should be able to have the same good feeling it gives you now years from now. Miles Stone is not a rap persona, it's my way of life & where i stand in life.
TMC: What made you want to pursue music as a career?
MS: If it wasn't for music, I wouldn't be as focused as I am now. I might have ended up somewhere I wish I didn't because of my negative & wild attitude I used to have. I needed a way to express myself & describe the problems around me. Last but not least, I want to be able to do something positive through something I love to do so I can get the people who helped raise me out of their problems & situations. Thats what motivates me everyday.
TMC: Name some people who influence you when it comes to music?
MS: 1st & foremost Jay-Z, thanks to my sister's influence. lol. She's the biggest fan of him. I definitely have been influenced by Big K.R.I.T., UGK, Outkast, Curren$y Spitta, T.I., Snoop Dogg & newcomer Kendrick Lamar.
TMC: What is your favorite thing about being an artist?
MS: I just love making music. Rhyming is my specialty but my knowledge of music really helps to get more hands on with music when it's time to make a song. As far as being an artist, i'm basically my own business. Being solely independent with no management has its ups & downs, but i'm blessed at what i've been able to do thus far having a mixtape on LiveMixtapes hosted by a DJ.
TMC: Not too long ago you released your latest mixtape "Blue Collar" Give a little insight for those who haven't heard it.
MS: Blue Collar... It was a long time coming... It took a year to put it together because I was living the Blue Collar lifestyle, working 3 jobs to fund the project. Crazy right? I invested alot of time & money into it & i like to call it a masterpiece. It's a mixtape but i've been told that some think it's an album. I will say this: it's one of the best projects you will have heard from the south in a while. Real music from a country bumpkin that usually grabs someone's attention almost all the time.
TMC: Biggest Challenge since doing music?
MS: It is VERRRRYYY difficult doing this on my own. As much as I love being able to do what I want to do, I know teamwork makes the dreamwork. I have assistance from a few fatihful people that i'm grateful for. I'm currently looking for more financial assistance as well as help with other aspects of my starting career. I'm praying that I get more sponsorships, financial help & more supporters in general to make the next project even THAT much better. Shoutout to my current sponsors stayWise caps & Fresh Baked Daily Clothing!
TMC: What makes you stand out from all the other artists trying to come up?
MS: Definitely my accent, lol. People definitely know i'm from the south and/or the country. I can't deny it. Also just my abilities to make a song & put together a project like "Blue Collar" I feel separates me from your average rapper who just recites rhymes over a beat someone made for em. I organize my material better than that. I just hope my seriousness & my originality takes me far.
TMC: What's something people may not know about Miles Stone?
MS: man, lol i'm somewhat insecure. It comes with my issue with complacency. I just tend to always compare myself to others & try to do better than them. This may seem like a good thing but sometimes it cant create problems. It makes me a lil insecure. Also, another little fact for you, i'm having my 1st concert where i'm the headliner in March this year. at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. Follow me @iammilesstone to find out more details about it.
